In 1999, thanks to the tireless efforts of co-author, former student, and dear friend Hugo Vieira Neto, I had the privilege of publishing my first technical book: Processamento Digital de Imagens (in Portuguese).
The book was one the first textbooks written in Portuguese covering the (then relatively young) field of Digital Image Processing . It was well-received by Brazilian students, professors, and researchers who wanted a textbook in Portuguese on the topic. It contained several examples in MATLAB, whose Image Processing Toolbox had recently been released.
It has been cited more than 300 times since its publication.
